WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN
TO BE "WOKE"?
August 23, 2019
It means knowing that most ordinary people are egalitarian revolutionaries because they want to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor: people like the hundreds just in my own zip code of 02135, whose three pages of photos you can see by clicking here .
WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN TO BE A WOKE ACTIVIST?
It means doing something to discover that you are literally surrounded by egalitarian revolutionaries in your own neighborhood.
It means encouraging these egalitarian revolutionaries by telling them that their values and aims are the ones that ought to shape all of society (and that that is what egalitarian revolution is all about.)
It means encouraging these egalitarian revolutionaries to express their values and aims openly so that others will see they are not alone in sharing them.
It means helping these egalitarian revolutionaries gain the confidence of knowing they are the majority so they will start acting like the majority they really are, by creating explicitly egalitarian revolutionary organizations, etc., instead of acting (as they now do) as if they were such a tiny and hopelessly weak minority that it makes no sense to try to remove the rich from power or even say aloud that that is one's goal.
WHAT DOES IT *NOT* MEAN TO BE A WOKE ACTIVIST?
It does *not* mean acting as if one is part of a tiny minority of people who, unlike most people, know that the rich and powerful treat us like dirt and do terrible evil things.
It does *not* mean posing as a teacher to teach the "ignorant masses" that they're being screwed by the rich and powerful (as if they didn't already know that full well.)
It does *not* mean using the word "we" to refer to those who are guilty of the crimes committed by the ruling plutocracy; the proper word is "they" or "them."
It does *not* mean telling good and decent people, "Until you've figured it out, shut the fuck up."
It does *not* mean making a cryptic sign that most people can't understand and then enjoying the fun of seeing people be unable to understand one's sign.
It does *not* mean ranting about how stupid or racist or homophobic or selfish or criminally complicit, etc. etc. most people are. First, this is not true. Second, this rant is essentially an argument against the idea of genuine democracy. Third, it's elitist BS.
